Resorbable Fixation

Bio-XT resorbable polymer processing technology enables the development of considerably higher strength resorbable implants, using standard resorbable material grades as input. The proprietary technology is based on optimisation of material microstructure, in which the material is physically orientated and reinforced but chemically unchanged. Performance gains are enabled through maximisation of the inherent material mechanical properties, which are compromised during standard processing such as injection moulding and extrusion.

The 2X – 2.5X strength and toughness increase facilitates disruptive innovations to orthopaedic implant design, including:

  • Higher strength resorbable products (equal to that of PEEK).
  • Reduced profile resorbable products, or porous resorbable products.

Resorbable anchors are produced using proprietary Bio-XT processing technology, enabling stronger, smaller and more porous designs.
